Marketing Communications Specialist / Content Writer

Opportunity at a Glance:
The colleague in this role is responsible for creating, developing, and producing internal and external content Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (Ross Vet). To achieve this, the colleague will work closely with Ross Vet leaders and colleagues in developing written and graphical digital content across owned and earned channels; optimizing that content to support enrollment goals and raise institutional awareness and reputation; and partner with departmental colleagues to advance a clear communications agenda that addresses prospective/current students, faculty/colleagues, industry thought leaders, and other key audiences. This position will be based in Iselin, New Jersey.
The Marketing Communications Specialist/Content Writer is responsible for, under direction, executing elements of the department's strategic plan as it relates to content development and production ensuring a seamless brand voice from awareness and inquiry through to graduation and professional practice. The post holder will conceive, develop, write, and produce a wide range of digital materials to inform and influence key audiences. S/he will also creatively utilize a variety of communication channels including media, newsletters, social media, and websites.
Responsibilities:
Create and deliver content appropriate for online and offline channels, including but not limited to: targeted/audience-aware messaging, student/graduate/faculty/administration profiles, news stories, case studies, university newsletter content, marketing collateral messaging, video monologues, fact sheets, phone scripts, executive and faculty biosketches, and other digital content.
Review, update, optimize, and curate existing content on all online and offline channels.
Plan and write new content for all online and offline channels.
Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications.
Identify and implement copy and digital asset creation needs for new and existing communications programs and marketing initiatives.
Lead audits of website content.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to work outside of normal business hours.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or related field required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, with focus on web/digital content.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Experience in online marketing, SEO, and Adwords, a plus.
Basic familiarity with web design and HTML.
Photoshop experience a plus.
Higher education experience a plus.
PC, mobile and web/online savvy-including full suite of Microsoft offerings.
Ability to analyze data and track and update information via Microsoft Excel.
Ability to quickly learn a varied set of software, content management systems, and editing tools.
Excellent multitasking and organization skills; high attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
Able to meet tight deadlines and prioritize a varied workload in a fast paced and demanding environment with several competing priorities.
Willing to learn new skills, expand knowledge, and adapt to technological and business.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
Willingness to contribute to out-of-hours activities and travel as required by the position.
